If you've ever been to an LDS potluck, activity or ward function, then you've probably heard or said this prayer before. We'd even put money on it (not our tithing money though) that Mormons aren't the only faith to say this prayer...lol.
This could mean one of two things:
1. That there is waaaaayyyyy to much junk food at church functions.
or
2. That we truly believe in the power of prayer and the Lord's ability to work miracles!
Ya'll tell us which one it is?
Glory, Glory Hallelujah,
Sista Beehive & Sista Laurel

Totally number 2. I mean, Jesus did turn water into wine. If He can do that then surely He can make that mess good for us.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! I vote #2 also, because Jesus also fed a lot of people with 2 loaves of bread and five fish (or was it the other way around?) Anyway the point is this miracle seems doable. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHa ha, good point! A third option would be that we believe that faith doesn't necessarily require works!
ReplyDeleteThe truly funny part, imo, is that many members don't even get the irony!
ReplyDeleteI am LOL on this one and smiling.....................
ReplyDeletehahaha
ReplyDeleteIt's true. Sometimes I wonder why we don't throw in "and bless this food that it won't have any calories..."
;)
I served a mission in Bulgaria...I tell you what, there were plenty of times I used this phrase in a prayer and truly meant it!
ReplyDeleteI have always thought this was ironic! Funny stuff!
ReplyDeleteFirst thought would be, maybe we need to change the wording, but upon further thought, maybe the words are common cause they are good, the bad (food) has become too common and maybe is the part we should consider changing.
